This is what the inside of my current PC looks like.
It gave me a bit of a scare the other day when it wouldn't start. It kept making this long, continuous beeping sound and I assumed that the start-up issue was memory related. I opened up the tower for a routine clean up and I performed a bit of an emergency transplant operation to get it working again.
I noticed there were 2 extra slots in the motherboard for RAM, so I borrowed some from my other PC (the dead one with the sealed harddrive) to try to stimulate some circulation with the motherboard:
But cleaning my PC helped. Tremendously. Rule #1 to PC maintenance: always clean your PC! I don't remember the last time I've cleaned this thing - just look at all that dust buildup in the photograph, eaux! You don't want that!
I've had this computer for about 8+ years now and it's hanging on life-support. After my laptop went bust over the summer I'm hoping to hold out for a few more months with this thing so I can accumulate enough to replace my laptop and get started on my gaming system. The tech guy I want to work with won't be in the city for some time so I'm in no rush.
As for the computer parts I want...
We'll see if I can stay committed to the list :]
